Northern Arizona University seeks to build a world-class, student-centered university. To continue its tradition of excellence into the foreseeable future, NAU is reaching out to private citizens, corporations and foundations to support innovative programs and facilities that set us apart from other institutions.
The campaign will raise $500,000 to supplement $6,000,000 in state funding. The $6 million will renovate the existing 14,263 square foot building and add an additional 3,573 square feet, while the $500,000 will provide furnishings, fixtures, and equipment. The renovated building will better accommodate a growing number of students selecting a major in HRM, and provide support for faculty, staff, and the hospitality community of Arizona.
Contributions to NAU and its colleges are made to the Northern Arizona University Foundation, a non-profit organization established to advance the teaching, research, and public service endeavors of Northern Arizona University by generating private contributions to supplement the university's state and federal revenues for capital, operating, and student assistance funds. The $6 million allocation of funding from the state of Arizona provides for all aspects of the building other than furnishings, fixtures, and equipment (FFE). In view of the challenging economic environment and as a result of interim financing available through the Center for Business Outreach in the Franke College of Business, complete funding for FFE is not required at groundbreaking. Instead, interim financing coupled with campaign pledges will enable completion of the facility with pledge commitments required to be completed no later than June 30, 2013. The FFE expenditures were expected to sum to approximately $500,000, with completion of the renovation in spring 2011.
