On November 8, 2017, alumna Marissa Friedrich (‘14) received the award for Best Professional Success at the Worldwide Hospitality Awards (WHA) at the InterContinental Paric Le Grand Hotel.

Friedrich (BA International Hospitality Management IUBH / BSc Hospitality Management NAU) had the opportunity to study abroad during the 2012–2013 academic year, and found a home away from home. She is now the online distribution manager in Germany & Poland for Scandic Hotels.

Friedrich follows the footsteps of Christoph Heyn, senior director of Mobile & Digital Guest Experience for ‎Marriott International, who had won this award in 2012 and was also an IUBH-NAU alumni (International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef).

The award is given to the person who meets the following criteria:
1. Excellence of the student's academic results
2. Exemplarity of their career path start
3. Efficiency of the measures and projects implemented in their company.

The faculty and staff of SHRM are proud of Friedrich's accomplishments and of our alumni around the world. Exciting news of alumni earning prestigious awards is a motivating element for both students as well.
