Impression Management Fall 2015
Dr. Wanda Costen, executive director of SHRM and Lance Rohs, SHRM lecturer, gave a fun discussion titled, "Impression Management" on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. The senior-only event covered the importance of professionalism, presentation of self, perception, motivation, first impressions, and authenticity.
This event was the first of a Senior Series, the result of information gathered over the summer by Costen who communicated with hospitality executives to learn key areas they felt new college graduates were lacking. The series will focus on these topics in an effort to make sure students are better prepared for the upcoming SHRM Career Hospitality Fair on September 30 and, more importantly, their first entry-level management positon.
The session was a success and Dr. Costen has already scheduled the next one for Wednesday, September 23rd, which will focus on the importance of communication.
