Forest Highlands Golf Club Recruiting Students
On Tuesday, January 20 and Wednesday, January 21, 2015, the Forest Highlands Golf Club will have an info table set up in the west wing of the SHRM building.
Taylor Smith, banquet manager and SHRM alumna (‘14), talked to students on their way out of class on Tuesday about the various job opportunities at the golf club.
“We’re starting to recruit for summer internships today and tomorrow,” she said. “It’s been quite successful so far, as we’ve gotten a lot of applications and resumes.”
They’ll be available from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. both days followed by a Pathways event Wednesday at 5 p.m. covering how to build personal relationships in the service and hospitality industry.
“I’ve been making sure to let people know that they can take an application and come back tomorrow with it filled out,” she said.
Cassidy Bennett, a sophomore SHRM student, worked at the golf club last summer and was at the info table with Smith to help recruit.
“A lot of our team members did multiple things,” she explained. “I cooked in the Snack Shack and was a hostess.”
Although most of the work is between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the golf club also caters events such as weddings during the off-season.
Forest Highlands will be accepting applications until all positions are filled and will be present at the upcoming Hospitality Career Fair on February 25 as well. Summer internships and full-time seasonal positions are available for students.
